Chattahoochee Nature Center

The Chattahoochee Nature Center is located along the Chattahoochee River on Willeo Rd. in Roswell. The Center is a steward of more than 127 acres of river marsh, freshwater ponds, and wooded uplands. The Center operates as a community-supported, non-profit environmental education facility, and offers a wide variety of fun and educational programs for families and children. Our most popular and regular events include Animal Encounters, Family Canoe Days, Family Camp-outs, Guided Nature Walks, Weekend Specials, and so much more. For a perfect day to enjoy the great outdoors, the Chattahoochee Nature Center is the place!

Here's a great tip for FREE family Fun! If you are planning to visit a Georgia State Park or an Historic Site in Georgia, you can borrow a "ParkPass" from your local library. The pass is good for free parking or admission at any of the 63 parks and historic sites statewide for up to five days. You must be a Georgia resident with a valid library card to obtain the ParkPass. Supplies are limited so plan early and check with your library for availability.
Sliding Rock - FREE Water Fun!Summer

If you are looking for a fun place to go and cool off up in the North GA mountains, check out the Sliding Rock. Sliding Rock is a swimming hole in the North Georgia Mountains on Wildcat Creek, where a cool sheet of water flows down a flat expanse of stone, forming a natural water slide. The sliding rock is only about a mile down the dirt road called W. Wildcat Creek Rd. There are plenty of campgrounds in the area. Check out Sugar Mill Creek Campground http://sugarmillcreek.com. Directions: Take Hwy 76 west for 11 miles to Hwy 197 on the left. Follow Hwy 197 for 5 more miles to W. Wildcat Road on the right. This will be 1.4 miles past Moccasin Creek State Park.

The Georgia Children's Museum

The GA Children's Museum is located in Macon, GA. The museum seeks to strengthen the fabric of education for all children throughout the Middle Georgia region offering new types of educational models that reinforce the educational achievement of all children. The museum features attractions for children such as the Little Learners Activity Area, Puppet Theatre, Journalism Exhibit, Art Studio, Georgia Piedmont Exhibit and more.

The Southeastern Railway MuseumOpen Th. - Sat.

The Southeastern Railway Museum has been in operation since 1970 and is "Georgia's Official Transportation History Museum". The museum has over 80 other pieces of retired railway rolling stock including vintage steam and diesel locomotives, passenger coaches, private business cars, a World War II army troop kitchen, wooden freight cars, railway post office car and maintenance of way equipment. Transit history is represented with a cross section of busses and trolleys from the early 1900's through the mid 1980's. The museum is also home to MARTA's historic bus fleet which includes busses from many of the predecessor systems to MARTA. Many other items from Georgia's transportation history are also presented on the museum's 35-acre site. Admission: Adults $8, Seniors (Ages 65+) $6, Children (Ages 2-12) $4, Children (Under 2) Free.

The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History

The Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History has three permanent collections. Exhibits include a glimpse into the daily lives of soldiers during the Civil War; a reproduction of a turn-of-the-century locomotive factory; and an exciting depiction of the Civil War's Great Locomotive Chase.
